What the calculator does

It is designed to show the statutory application fee separately from any Planning Portal service charge and VAT that may apply when an application is submitted online.

What the calculator does not do

The result is an estimate and does not validate an application, decide whether planning permission is required, or replace advice from a Local Planning Authority or qualified planning professional. The relevant authority determines the correct fee for the application as submitted.

How the information is sourced

Fee categories and figures are checked against the GOV.UK fees guidance, the annual indexation notices, and the Town and Country Planning (Fees for Applications, Deemed Applications, Requests and Site Visits) (England) Regulations 2012, as amended.

Where an official source, regulation, or fee schedule changes, the relevant calculator logic and explanatory content should be checked together. This helps prevent a page from displaying a new figure while retaining an outdated explanation of how that figure is calculated.

How updates are managed
