Terms of Use

Last reviewed: 18 September 2026

These terms explain how you may use Planning Portal Fee Calculator, an independent reference tool for estimating statutory planning application fees in England.

Independent service

This website is not owned, operated, endorsed, or administered by the official Planning Portal, GOV.UK, MHCLG, TerraQuest Solutions Limited, or any local planning authority. The name of the site describes the subject of the calculator and does not indicate an official relationship.

Estimates, not decisions

The calculator provides an estimate based on the information selected by the visitor and the sources described on our Sources and methodology page. It does not decide whether planning permission is required, validate an application, or determine the final fee payable. The relevant Local Planning Authority and the current official guidance determine the correct fee for an application as submitted.

Use of information

You may use the calculator and explanatory pages for personal, educational, and ordinary business reference. You should check important decisions and payment amounts against current official guidance or with the relevant authority before submitting an application.

Accuracy and changes

We aim to keep the fee tables, explanations, and calculator logic consistent with the cited sources, but regulations and guidance can change. We may correct errors, update pages, or change the service without notice. Reporting a possible error through the Contact page helps us review it.
